Description

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an examination that primarily tests the students understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. It is conducted in eight different zones across India.

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) jointly administer the conduct of GATE. They are conducting the test on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, National Coordinating Board, and Department of Education for the engineering graduates who want to seek admission in IITs, IISC for the Post graduation.

Some of the PSUs also recruit candidates depending on their GATE score card for their different departments.

In this test, out of 23 papers the aspirants has to appear for the only one depending on their qualifying degree. Of course they have the right to choose any paper but it should be related to the eligibility criteria of the institution they want to get admission in.
